CHAL AND PARTNERS BREAK GROUNDS FOR A MODERN MEDICAL OXYGEN REFILLING PLANT IN MALEKE, BONG COUNTY

As part of her continuous support to the Health care delivery of Liberia, the Christian Health Association of Liberia (CHAL), with support from the Rotary Club of Sinkor, Christian Connections for International Health (CCIH) and the National Social Security and Welfare Corporation (NASCROPS) has broken grounds for the construction of a medical Oxygen Refilling Plant in Bong.
CHAL, as a Christian Health Organization was established with the objectives to provide and encourage the highest standard of Christian health care for people in Liberia.
It also engages in joint planning and cooperation with government in providing and sharing information, developing strategies and sharing available Health and other resources. The institution is also involved in raising funds both locally and internationally, acquire and use materials, machines and other resources and do all things that are legal for the survival and sustainability of a non-profit organization in Liberia.
Giving an overview of the project, Attorney Decontee King- Sackie, President of the Rotary Club of Sinkor said when completed, the Oxygen Refilling Plant will serve as a relief for health facilities in Bong, Lofa and Nimba counties.
Attorney Sackie in her remarks extended commendations to all partners including international donors for their tireless financial support provided to the project that is to be implemented by CHAL.
Madam Decontee King-Sackie also encouraged her implementing partner, CHAL to remain focus and committed to constructing the oxygen refilling plant, something she believes definitely will be in the best interest of the people of Bong, Lofa and Nimba Counties. She also lauded the efforts of NASCROPS, CCIH, the Rotary Club of E-Texas in the United States of America and Sinkor including other donors for supporting the oxygen plant project. Attorney Decontee King-Sackie put the total cost of the project at one hundred and Eighty Three Thousand United States dollars (183,000), describing NASCROPS, CCIH, the Rotary E-club of Texas and Sinkor as brain behind the initiative.

Also remarking at the ground breaking ceremony, Mr. Karson K. Saykor, past immediate board President of CHAL and Administrator of Phebe hospital who pledged his institution’s fullest commitment in working with CHAL and her donors for the successful construction of the medical oxygen refilling plant in the county.
The Phebe hospital administrator told the gathering that the pending project, when completed, will greatly impact the county only referral hospital including other Health facilities in the targeted Counties.
Mr. Karson Saykor also extended thanks and appreciations to the Rotary club of Sinkor and E-Club of Texas for choosing Bong as the benefiting county for the project.

For her part, the assistant governor for district 9101, Rotary international madam Nancy D. Freeman praised CHAL for her commitment towards the project. “It is with great pleasure that I stand before you to make these special remarks at this historic ground breaking event, which is being supported by Rotarians in Liberia, the United States of America and Rotary international with a global network of 1.4 million madam”, Freeman said. She said CHAL was awarded the project based on its forty years of experience in providing affordable health care services through its members’ facilities.
With its vision (access to Health care services for people in Liberia), Governor Freeman said CHAL is competent and qualified as a Christian organization to implement the Construction of the medical oxygen refilling plant in Bong.

The ground breaking ceremony brought together Dr. Mini Sankawolo Ricks, medical Director of Phebe hospital, Mr. Allen Zomonway, vice president of CHAL and administrator of the Ganta United Methodist hospital, Rev. James Freeman Garway, ELWA hospital administrator and president of the Board of Director of CHAL, Dr. Cynthia Blapooh CHO- Bong County, J. Lavelah Massaquoi, NASCROPS Regional Director for Bong, Lofa and Nimba counties as well as Dr. Arthur J. Woah, medical Director CB Dunbar comprehensive hospital.
